Domain Embarking

July 26, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · 1 Comment

domain embarkingIn several previous articles we discussed the principal components of the domaining revenue model, aka:domain flipping; domain parking; and domain development;

I have now literally stumbled on a new domaining revenue model called domain embarking.

There are many disadvantages with traditional domaining parking . More recently, domainers have witnessed a dramatic decline in revenues.

Also, in terms of effort, domain development is time consuming and costly.

I have not had much time to fully explore this new domaining revenue model. However my first impressions are that domain embarking is a hybrid between domain parking and domain development i.e. domain parking and domain development rolled into one.

So instead of the typical one parking page with hundreds of links designed just to get visitors to click, the domain embarking company develops your domain into a full-blown 8 page web site with News, Videos,Images, Pod Casts, Blogs, Opinion Polls, Voting Questions and other Personalization Options – and then parks it for you.

My gut feeling is that this product enhancement should feed through into better website monetization and enhanced revenues and I would recommend that it is worth exploring. Watch the video.

“Don’t park it….EMBARK it!” at Domain Embarking.

Domain Development

July 10, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · 3 Comments

In a previous domaining revenue model article we stated that revenue from domain development was one of the three principal components of the domaining revenue model.

In terms of effort, domain development is the most time consuming and costly aspect of domaining. But it is the most rewarding financially. If done properly, a domain name developed in a popular niche or business area can fetch over $1,200,000 within 12-18 months – or the equivalent of a daily income of $2,222.22.

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of the domain development component of the Domaining Revenue Model?

Advantages of the Domaining Revenue Model component Domain Development:

  • Multiple Revenue Streams Potential;
  • PPC Ads Income;
  • Affiliate Income possibilities;
  • CPA Income possibilities;
  • Text Link Income possibilities;
  • Membership Subscription Income possibilities;
  • You Maintain Full Control over the Domain including Content, Keywords, Layout, Navigation, Advertising;
  • Repeat Visitors;
  • Search Engine Listing;
  • Opportunity to Build and Develop Customer Relationships by Capturing Contact Information via Mailing Lists, Newsletters, eMailing Offers;
  • Large Financial Returns possible;
  • Revenue Streams generated from Monetization;
  • Regular Cash Flow generated from Monetization;
  • Potentially Larger Revenue Stream generated from Eventual Sale of Developed Domain Name;
  • Creates “use in commerce” business and provides protection against trademark infringement and Snowe Bill legislation;

Dis-Advantages of the Domaining Revenue Model component Domain Development:

  • Requires hands on management and organisation;
  • Commitment in Unspecified amount of Time Required;
  • Commitment in Technology;
  • Upkeep and Growth to maintain SEO, PR and other Rankings
  • Any potential Revenue Deferred until Eventual Sale;
