The Domain Game

August 30, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment

the domain gameI previously wrote an article about an interesting book about domaining entitled The Domain Game way back in July. Have you read this book yet? If not, you should, and soon. This book runs to only 9 chapters and 200 pages and is a “must read” for anyone really interested in domaining – an exciting market with a relatively small initial investment, with possible high risk, but huge potential rewards.

In case you missed my previous article, here’s the link…The Domain Game

So is it too late to invest in domain names? “No, it’s not too late”, David Kesmodel, the author, concludes emphatically.

Need any tips on…

  • What Should You Buy?;
  • Exploiting New Terms and Technologies?;
  • What’s the Right Price?;
  • Generating Cash Flow?;
  • What It Will Take?;

Then you must read the book. Click on The Domain Game to get your copy NOW!

Domain Flipping

August 18, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment

domain flippingDomain Flipping – Forbes magazine has just published an interesting article about the domain name aftermarket entitled “Flipping For Domains”.

In a previous article entitled “Domaining Revenue Model” we stated “Revenue from Domain Flipping – domain names are bought and immediately offered for sale at a profit. Domain flipping is relatively easy as it requires no work other than the purchase of a “memorable” domain name or a domain name that is easy to remember or with a nice ring to it. Sometimes, to maximise profits, it may be beneficial to partially develop the domain before offering it for sale.”

Here are some interesting quotes from Forbes.com:

As the real estate and credit markets plummet, the so-called domain aftermarket, where Internet addresses that cost less than $10 to register are bought and resold for thousands of dollars, is thriving.

And as a sign of the growing demand for the Internet’s limited valuable real estate, seemingly meaningless URLs, like qsd.com, …cjz.com and hyb.com, are now worth thousands of dollars in the domain aftermarket. It’s now all but impossible to register a new two-, three- or even four-letter dot-com domain at registrars like GoDaddy.

In addition to flipping, domainers have other ways of making money from their investments. Most domainers post ads on their Web sites, which can generate a decent monthly income. And Jackson says more and more domainers are teaming up with Web developers to create their own online businesses.

Domain Name Valuation

August 13, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment

Domain Name Valuation – How much is your Domain Name, or any domain name, worth? The domain name market has been experiencing substantial growth in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue. Whether you are a buyer or seller or just another interested party, establishing the fair market value of a domain name is an important issue.

Placing a value on a domain name is very similar to placing a value on real estate and takes into account a number of factors including recent domain sales which are a very important indication of a domain’s value and also provide valuable insight into the industry as a whole.

Domain Development

In a previous article we stated that

in terms of effort domain development is the most time consuming and costly aspect of domaining. But it is the most rewarding financially. If done properly…

In the same article we went on to outline in great detail the advantages of the Domaining Revenue Model Domain Development.

More recently we wrote about domain embarking which we described as

a hybrid between domain parking and domain development i.e. domain parking and domain development rolled into one

Hard on the heels of domain embarking comes the new software version, 3.0, of SteadyNiche which is a domain development content management software that allows you to create complete websites for your in minutes, by just adding some information including website title, slogan and main keyword. The software is developed in PHP and gathers data from other websites, like Google or eBay, using the RSS technology. With this, SteadyNiche has a consistent base of information to build a complete website. The developers claim that, with SteadyNiche, you can create a website with reliable and keyword-rich content about any subject in 5 minutes!

The obvious advantage of buying and installing this software on your website (s) is that, instead of sharing the revenue with the domain parking and domain embarking companies, you get to keep 100% of all the revenues from clicks, affiliate links etc.

My opinion is that it is worth looking into. You can click on the link to read more about SteadyNiche

Cybersquatting and Trademark Infringement

August 4, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment

domain namesIn a previous article entitled “Domain Names Flip For Big Bucks” we stated that:

“The domain name speculator must be careful, though, to avoid any domain name that could be considered a trademark or copyright infringement. If they fail to heed the warnings, they will usually find themselves on the short end of a lawsuit and lose the domain name and a lot of money in the long run.”

In a subsequent article entitled Cybersquatting and Trademark Infringement we stated that:

Registering, selling or using a domain name with the intent of profiting from the goodwill of someone else’s trademark is called cybersquatting, according to the U.S. Federal Law known as the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act.

The domain name you finally choose may be inspired from a marketing standpoint, but from a legal perspective you may be exposed. So avoid putting your Internet business at risk and do not choose a domain name that impinges on the trademark rights of any one of the millions of commercial names that already exist.

Domain Name Search

August 1, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment

domain name searchReady to sell your domain name? Want to do a domain name search so that you can bid on a domain name that already exists?

Then you’ll want to be a member of The Domain Name Aftermarket, the Internet’s new auction house for the hottest – all backed by proven Go Daddy systems and support!

The median aftermarket resale price increased 24% between 2004 and 2005 – the domain resale market is hotter than ever. Whether your domain name search relates to a Buy Now, a bid on premier expired names at auction, or to make an offer or sell a domain in the HOT resale market, The Domain Name Aftermarket is ready with four simple ways to buy and sell domains.

Buying and selling domains has never been easier.

Domain Name Search for Buy Now – Want your domain today? If your offer equals the Buy Now price, you’ll be awarded the domain.

Domain Name Search for Expired Name Auctions – Place your bid on an expired domain name. If the auction ends and you’re the highest bidder, the domain’s yours.

Domain Name Search for Offer/Counter-offer – Make an offer on a domain and The Domain Name Aftermarket will instantly notify the seller, who then has the option of accepting or countering your offer.

Domain Name Search for NEW! 7-Day Public Auctions – Like a traditional online auction, sellers set a minimum starting bid price, and bidders place increasingly higher bids. When time runs out, if you have the highest bid, you win.
