Domain Flipping for Instant Cash
November 29, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment
Domain Flipping for Instant Cash – Domaining is the art and science of buying and selling domain names as virtual real estate investments.
In a previous article entitled “Domaining Revenue Model” we stated “Revenue from Domain Flipping – domain names are bought and immediately offered for sale at a profit. Domain flipping is relatively easy as it requires no work other than the purchase of a “memorable” domain name or a domain name that is easy to remember or with a nice ring to it. Sometimes, to maximise profits, it may be beneficial to partially develop the domain before offering it for sale.”
In a previous article entitled Domain Flipping we stated that Forbes magazine has just published an interesting article about the domain name aftermarket entitled “Flipping For Domains”.
To help our many readers who have requested additional information about domain flipping, I would like to offer a free 29 min Video entitled “10K in 30 Days Flipping Websites for Instant Cash”. This is a very informative video which is being sold elsewhere for $29.95 but offered free here.

Web site developers utilise a very powerful tool called Style Sheets which provide the ability to be completely consistent with the look and feel of your web pages, while giving you much more control over the layout and design than straight HTML ever did.
Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS for short, were introduced sometime in 1997 but it is only during the past few years that they have started to be widely used among browsers and web developers are learning to be more comfortable with them.
There are three parts or aspects to CSS:
- the styles which define how to display HTML elements;
- their placement; and
- the fact that they can cascade;
The Art & Science Of CSS beautifully presented in full color, will teach you how to apply innovative CSS based techniques to create visually stunning headings, forms, menus, navigation, backgrounds, and much more…

Google Webmaster Guidelines – Today I want to talk a bit about Google and how they provide webmasters with lots of great resources when it comes to website creation. I am often amazed at how few people actually pay attention to what I like to call Google recommendations.
Presumably, one of your principal goals is to:
- Create a website that drives free traffic from search engine like Google, Yahoo and Msn.
Then you need to listen to what those very search engines have to say about how a website should be structured, the content, links, and the nuts and bolts. This makes sense to me.
Here is the link to the Google Webmaster Guidelines
These guidelines have been my SEO bible so to speak from ever since I can remember.
If your goal is to drive free online traffic to your website (s) – and it should be a priority if you truly want to make money online – then you should understand those Google Webmaster Guidelines inside out.
I personally like to think of these guidelines as the rulebook, and addressing these guidelines has been an integral part of my success online.
So I recommend that you follow the rules and you too can drive free traffic to your website and make money.

In a previous domain flipping tutorial we stated:
Online Auction Account – You will, on occasions, offer domain names for sale in an online auction. So we recommend you use an account with eBay. If you do not already have an eBay account, you can Sign Up Here. It’s free.this tutorial we are going to cover Selling Domain names Using Auctions.
In this Domain Flipping Tutorial we would like to expand on the topic “Selling Domain Names Using Auctions”.
Using online auctions accomplishes two major business objectives:
- they are an effective distribution channel to sell your domain names thereby converting inventory into ready cash; and
- they provide an excellent source of leads allowing you to add previous auction buyers to your mailing lists without being accused of spam;
At the outset let’s be clear. we are not talking solely about eBay auctions. Yes, eBay should be an integral part of your auction selling strategy especially as it is the easiest component to get rolling and one that normally produces quick results.
But you should be aware that there are several “big name” aftermarket auction sites, many specialised auctions available to you as a domainer and that there are domain name auctions taking place daily on different forum websites.
Here is a list to get you started:
- SedoSelling.com Free Account. Requires registration;
- Afteric.com Paid & Free Membership. Requires registration;
- Moniker.com Free Account. Requires registration ;

Cybersquatting and Trademark Infringement
November 7, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment
Cybersquatting and Trademark Infringement -The domain name speculator must be careful to avoid any domain name that could be considered a trademark or copyright infringement. If they fail to heed the warnings, they will usually find themselves on the short end of a lawsuit and lose the domain name and a lot of money in the long run.
Registering, selling or using a domain name with the intent of profiting from the goodwill of someone else’s trademark is called cybersquatting, according to the U.S. Federal Law known as the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act. This law generally refers to the practice of registering domain names that incorporate the names of existing or well known businesses with the intent of selling these names to those businesses for profit. So in a nutshell cybersquatting is using a domain name to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else.
During the .ME auctions in July/August 2008, we saw some eye popping sales. Even more extra-ordinary was the number of trademark related domain names going for big bucks. Toyota.me sold for $90,025. The buyer, Mr. Kohler a Brazilian, also picked up Porsche.me. I remember wondering whether he owned a car dealership as I was baffled that someone would spend close to six figures on names they will likely lose in a trademark dispute.
On August 14th. a Complaint was filed with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center. The Complainant was the maker of sports cars and owner of numerous trademarks incorporating Porsche.
Now the WIPO administration panel has just published its decision made on October 24, 2008 and ordered that the domain name,
Interesting? You can Click Here to read the full decision.
Mr. Kohler is not the only one to lose his .me domain name. ExxonMobil recently picked up ExxonMobil.me from a Tampa, Florida man. Confederation Nationale du Credit Mutuel picked up CreditMutuel.me. So it won’t be long before other trademark related domain names get picked up in arbitration.

Domain Flipping Tutorial – In our previous Domain Flipping Tutorial we discussed the following: .Com TLD; Short and Pronounceable Domain Names; Aged or Older Domain Names; Avoid Numbers and Hyphens; Domain Names with Established Traffic; Expired Domain Names with Page Rank; Avoid Trademark Names and Names of Celebrities; Keywords, Generic and Commerce Words;
In today’s Domain Flipping Tutorial we would like to cover the following basic operating requirements which are both free and easy to set up, but which should be operational before you commence your domain flipping operations:
- domain buying account;
- domain inventory;
- cash operating account;
- online auction account;
- classified ADs account; and
- web presence or website;
Domain Buying Account – You will need an account with a Registrar to make bulk searches and potential purchases of domain names. I recommend that you use GoDaddy, the largest and cheapest registrar. If you do not already have a GoDaddy account, you can Sign Up Here. It’s free.
Domain Inventory – You will need to have a regular supply of domain names to sell (domain inventory). GoDaddy will “manage” any domain names you have purchased through them or any transfers you have made from other sources.
Cash Operating Account – You will need a cash account to accept cash for your sales of domain names. For simplicity we recommend an account with PayPal. If you do not already have a PayPal account, you can Sign Up Here. It’s free.
Online Auction Account – You will, on occasions, offer domain names for sale in an online auction. So we recommend you use an account with eBay. If you do not already have an eBay account, you can Sign Up Here. It’s free.
Classified ADs Account – You will need to advertise the domain names you are selling using classified ads as one of your various advertising media. USFreeads is the best classified ads website. If you do not already have a USFreeAds account, you can Sign Up Here. It’s free.
Web Presence or Website – You will need to make it easy for potential buyers to find you and contact you. So your next step is to create a professional web site or web presence. See our previous articles:

November 2, 2008 by Stephen S Alison · Leave a Comment
Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) are domain names represented by native language characters. The native language domain name will be followed by .com or .net. According to Global Reach, 60% of the Internet users in 2002 are non-English speakers. Companies that do not address this market segment are missing out on an enormous opportunity.
How Do I Use One – Localize your website to more effectively reach target your audience. Whether you are a global enterprise, or a locally focused company, establishing a presence on the Internet is a must. The first step is, of course, selecting a domain name to serve as the access point to your Web site. Now, with the availability of Internationalized Domain Names, you can select a name that will be most meaningful and effective for your audience or market.
Accurately represent your Web – If you are a locally focused business whose name and identity are in your own language and script, you no longer have to translate or transliterate your name into ASCII characters to better fit the Web. The Web can now be more flexible to better fit your needs.
Protect your brand – You can protect your brands, trademarks and identities in whatever language or script you deem relevant to your business.
What languages are supported – Since availability of languages is dependent upon Unicode, it would be best to answer this question in Unicode terms from the Unicode site. Many scripts (especially Latin) are used for a very large number of languages. The easiest answer is that Unicode covers all the languages that can be written in the following scripts: Latin; Greek; Cyrillic; Armenian; Hebrew; Arabic; Syriac; Thaana; Devanagari; Bengali; Gurmukhi; Oriya; Tamil; Telegu; Kannada; Malayalam; Sinhala; Thai; Lao; Tibetan; Myanmar; Georgian; Hangul; Ethiopic; Cherokee; Canadian-Aboriginal Syllabics; Ogham; Runic; Khmer; Mongolian; Han (Japanese, Chinese, Korean ideographs); Hiragana; Katakana; Bopomofo and Yi.
